Thalapathy Vijay's Beast, which was released in theatres on April 14, failed to live up to expectations at the box office. It also received largely negative reviews, with critics criticising the middling screenplay. The film, however, garnered attention due to the Arabic Kuthu song. The Anirudh Ravichander-composed peppy track has now reached a major milestone. Beast is an action comedy, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The song has now crossed the 200 million views mark on YouTube. Sun Pictures wrote on Twitter that the video "hits the massive 200 million views".  Vijay starrer Beast ended its run at the box office with Rs. 169 crores approx in India and Rs. 236 crores worldwide. The film has done big numbers for a Kollywood movie but ended up being the lowest-grossing movie for Vijay since Mersal in 2017, thanks to a mixed to negative reception and to some degree, competition from the box office juggernaut KGF Chapter 2. Every Vijay release surpassed the previous one since 2017, a streak that ceased with this Nelson directorial. Beast is the fifth-highest grosser ever for Vijay in both India and worldwide. The film has set a new benchmark at the Box Office despite facing tough competition from  KGF 2, RRR   and other new releases in the international market. The Nelson-directorial achieved the feat in 21 days with the highest collection from Tamil Nadu. Beast eased off another 20 percent on Tuesday, grossing Rs. 4 crores approx at the Indian box office. The film concluded its first 7-days haul in India at just over Rs. 145 crores. The Vijay starrer crossed Rs. 100 crores in Tamil Nadu yesterday, making it the first movie since Master to hit the three digit figure. Though the film is receiving mixed reviews from the fans and critiques, it is still proving to be a blockbuster hit at the box office. Now an interesting update about the deleted scenes of this film has surfaced on the internet. Vijay played RAW agent Veera Raghavan in the 'Beast', and he goes missing in the film's pre-climax. The makers had a scene of Veera Raghavan getting arrested by police after handing over the terrorist. Also, a scene of the minister getting arrested for his contact with terrorists. Vijay starrer Beast had another strong day at the box office with nearly Rs. 20 crores coming on Friday. The film grossed Rs. 19.50 crores approx on its day three, easing off 20 per cent from Thursday, taking its total to Rs. 104 crores approx in India. Beast started its international rollout on Wednesday with a huge $3.30 million approx (Rs. 25 crores) opening day. The number could have been easily over $4 million but the film missed big business in the Middle East due to working day release in Ramdaan month along with no release in Qatar and Kuwait. Vijay starrer Beast blasted off with an estimated Rs. 61 crores approx at the Indian box office on Wednesday. As was expected, the film took the biggest opening day ever in Tamil Nadu state and the career-best start for Vijay everywhere but Andhra Pradesh. The opening day numbers are second-biggest ever for a Kollywood & eighth-highest ever for any film, bettering Vijay’s previous best Sarkar (Rs. 50.10 crores).   In Tamil Nadu, the initial estimates have the film at Rs. 37-38 crores, beating Sarkar (Rs. 32.84 crores) for the opening day record comfortably with a margin of Rs. 5 crores or so.
