'Varisu' box office collection: Vijay's 2023 Pongal release overtakes Rs 300 crores worldwide, makers confirm

Vijay's 'Varisu' was released in theatres on January 11 during the occasion of Pongal and locked horns with Ajith's 'Thunivu' at the box office. The family drama opened with positive reviews and it gained attention from audiences of all kinds. Now, the latest update on the 'Varisu' box office collection is that Vijay's 2023 Pongal release has overtaken Rs 300 crores worldwide, and here's the official confirmation from the makers. After breaching the Rs 250 crore mark in 11 days, Vijay's family drama has taken some extended time to break into the 300 crore mark. The film has reportedly earned over Rs 300 crores globally at the end of day 26, and the makers have unveiled a new poster to confirm the film's achievement.

'Varisu' has reportedly earned over Rs 50 crores in Kerala and Telugu states, and this has added power to the film's box office collection. Meanwhile in Tamil Nadu, 'Varisu' (Rs 135 crores) has surpassed 'Bigil' collections (Rs 132 crores) and is set to become the actor's best in the home state by surpassing 'Master' (Rs 142 crores). Vijay's entertaining film has also performed in the overseas market as well, and the film has reportedly earned almost Rs 90 crores. Vijay has broken the tale by breaking box office collections with a less hyped film and teaming up with a new director and a composer.


Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, 'Varisu' is about a businessman, who suffers from a disease, forced to choose his business heir among his three sons. Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna play lead roles, while Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, Srikanth, and Ganesh Venkatram play supporting roles. Thaman fascinated fans with the film songs and background score, and the film is getting ready for a digital release soon.
